Should Islam be protected by religious freedom?

In the west, we have what we call "religious freedom", in short it can be defined in the following way... Freedom of religion  is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or community, in public or private, to manifest religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance without government influence or intervention. It also includes the freedom to change one's religion or belief. Now some of you might not agree in full with the definition given above, it is a very broad definition and certainly not practised in that exact way in every democratic country in the world. However this is the most accepted definition. Let us examine how Islam measures against this definition. Islam has 2 aspects, there is the religious side which is only of value to muslims and then there is the political side which by far out weighs the religious side, and it is also this part that is very important for us to understand.
